November 22, 2007 NEWPORT NEWS — Mary Warren Williams Smith, 61, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007. A native of Fox Hill she was a longtime member of Fox Hill Central United Methodist Church and as a resident of Newport News, she had more recently attended Warwick Memorial United Methodist Church. She loved quilting, knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching and applique. She was a member of the Ladies of the Evening Applique Society and the Peninsula Piecemakers Quilt Guild. She loved to travel, especially on cruises.  Survivors include her husband, Wayne M. Smith; her son, Heath W. Smith and his wife, Sheila, of Ark; and her brother, Calvin Williams and his wife, Kathy, of Hampton; her aunt, Helen Williams; a niece, Ann Marie Steveson; and two brothers-in-law, Wylie Smith and Henry W. Smith. She will be missed by her two cats, Tommy and Charlie. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, in the R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Sonja Oliver. Interment will follow in Clark Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
