Mary-Anna McDearmon Lair, 57, passed into spirit December 27, 1998. A high school English teacher, Mary Anna retired after 26 years with Hampton City Schools. A native of Appomattox, she was an artist and owner of Mandala Art. Her creations are internationally distributed. She has published and received awards for her writing. She was a member of the GISA Healing Sanctuary.

She is survived by numerous friends, including her soul sisters Gayle Lemmond and Mary B. Boynton. In addition, a brother, C. Lewis McDearmon Jr. of Appomattox; and a niece, Cecelia McDearmon Dicken of Marlton, N.J. She is also survived by her constant, faithful and devoted pet, Andrew.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Dec. 29, at 2 p.m. by the Rev. John E. Dougher at The Life Enrichment Center, 11847, Suite 8, Canon Blvd., Newport News, Va., 873-3900.

She requested that memorials be made to Graham Institute of Self Awareness Scholarship Fund or to Peninsula SPCA. They may be sent to Loving Funeral Home, P.O. Box 6634, Portsmouth, Va. 23703.
