HAMPTON - Evelyn Holmes Moore, 84, widow of William R. Moore, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2004. Born in Creedmoor, N.C., she had been a Hampton resident since 1947. Mrs. Moore was a graduate of Elon College and retired in 1979 as a teacher, having taught at Hampton and Kecoughtan High Schools. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Westminster Bible Class, as well as the Riverdale Garden Club, the Hampton Woman's Club, Chapter B Virginia P.E.O. and numerous bridge clubs. Mrs. Moore is survived by her sons, Wesley Moore and wife, Beth, of Newport News, and John Reed Moore and friend, Irene Snapp, of Hampton; and lifelong friend, Margaret West. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home by the Rev. George L. Oehler with interment to follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The family requests that memorials be sent to the Master Campaign of First Presbyterian Church, 514 S.
