Lana Hoover Holland passed away peacefully at her mother's home on Aug. 24, 2010.
Born Jan. 3, 1948, to Robert J. Hoover and Mabel Stephenson Hoover in Presque Isle, Maine, Lana graduated from Kecoughtan High School in 1966 after being very involved in many clubs and organizations. She continued her spirit of involvement and generosity to her community, family and church throughout her life. She especially loved family functions, outdoor activities involving any kind of water sports, golf and travel. She became a State Certified Massage Therapist in 1996.
Lana is survived by her husband, Lawis Holland; her mother, Mabel Hoover; her children by William H. Hollingsworth, Mindy Calvert and William Hollingsworth III; her grandchildren, Alex and Abby Hollingsworth and Zoe Calvert; her sisters, Sue Butti and Pat Hoover; her brother-in-law, Mike Butti; her niece and nephews, Stacey Butti Ball, Mike and Tony Butti and Corey Hoover; her stepchildren, Brian, Stanley and Travis, their wives Jennifer and Amy and their children, Tyler, Connor, Haley, Ragan and Brayden.
Her family wishes to extend special thanks to Mrs. Alberta Wicks, who was Lana's nurse assistant during the final days of her life.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, in the R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke University Medical Center, DUMC Box 3624, Durham, NC 27710 or a charity of your choice.

Robert Gerehart (1965)

If you are looking over my shoulder, I want you to know that I often thought of you. I'll always remember seeing, and talking with you at the 35 year reunion. My dear friend Lana, may God have blessed you, and the loved ones, you left behind.
