MICHAEL JOSEPH O'KEEFE was the son of John & Isabel O'Keefe, born on January 9, 1946, and joined the Armed Forces while in RICHMOND, VA. MICHAEL was born in Hampton, Virginia and lived at 49 West Hygeia Avenue until his induction into the United States Army. He became a medic since he felt that he could not take another’s life. I'll always remember him as the best big brother anyone could have.

He served in the Army with 1 year of service and attained the rank of CPL/E3. He began a tour of duty on January 2, 1967. On April 29, 1967, at the age of 21, MICHAEL JOSEPH O'KEEFE perished in the service of our country in South Vietnam, Binh Duong. You can find MICHAEL JOSEPH O'KEEFE honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on Panel 18e, Row 115.

Patrick O’Keefe (his brother)

Michael is buried at Oakland Cemetery in Hampton, VA. Among his awards were the Bronze Star Medal (V Device for Valor) and the Purple Heart Medal)

I serve with Mike in the Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment (Wolfhounds). He was a great person,

I was the RTO for B Company, 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment (Wolfhounds). Mike was our medic. I was wounded and was attended to by Mike just prior to his being killed. My family and I will be eternally grateful for his sacrifice. I know that god has a special place for him. Thanks for your help Doc!!!!!!
