David William Porter

POQUOSON - David William Porter Sr., 55, died at his home May 24, 2003, with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. A native of Hampton, he was a longtime Poquoson resident and a 1966 graduate of Kecoughtan High School. Dave was the owner of Spectator Sports, Assistant Junior Varsity Football Coach for Poquoson, past member of the JOUMAN Lodge, a mentor in the Job Coach Program for Poquoson City Schools, served as the President and Vice President of the Peninsula Apartment Counsel and was very active in the Poquoson Youth Sports. David was a beloved husband, father, son and friend who will be dearly missed by us all. Preceded in death by his father, Walter A. Porter Sr., Dave is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Suzanne Porter; sons, Scott Moore, David Porter Jr. and Doug Porter; mother, Ruth Porter; grandson, Scott Moore; sisters, Carolyn Lewis, Eleanor Porter, Elizabeth Kendrick; brother, Walter 'Bud' Porter; as well as several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and dear friends. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, at the Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Dale Coffey. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.

Deborah Anne Outten (Fisk) (1966)

David at his last reunion, 2001.  David will forever be remembered as the Reunion King for the Class of '66.  Always dressed in a suit and tie and always promoting good will and spirit among his friends and classmates.  No one ever comes to a reunion and does not miss David!!!

Robert Gerehart (1965)

Dave was a woderful firend of mine. We spent many weekend nights cruising in his '50 Chevy. I knew that at some point during the evening we were going to stop at his favorite bakery, and pick up a couple of brownies. If ever there was a role model, it was Dave. He is sorely missed by me, and everyone he came in contact with. May God watch over his soul.
