Back in the Day

What I remember most was coming from St. Mary's and then 9th Grade at Thorpe - our new school was  large and clean.  St. Mary's was clean but not so much for Thorpe, after all my parents went there when it was Hampton High (1940-42 with only 11 grades).

I remember Mr. Sztela's blue eyes, so many young teacher's fresh out of school, beating Hampton High, the day Rockly died, the day President Kennedy died, Mrs. Grimm - I loved journalism, the plane crash in Fox Hill, Johnny Ellis - the day he did not graduate with us (what a great kid), and so many friends whom collectively did not have a clue as to where they were headed.

It is a pleasure to be able to re-connect after all these years and share our successes and failures with folks who started out just like me.
